Botox Injections

Botox injections are commonly done by numerous health care professionals. The procedure is quick and done as an out patient.

Once the face is rinsed, the area of the injections is premarked. The injections are done with a very fine needle and are only mildly painful

The number of injections is variable and depends on the area, extent and depth of wrinkles and facial features

Some areas of the face may require 2-4 injections and other areas may require more, in most individuals, 10-15 injections are common

After the injections there is rapid recovery and no downtime

One can resume the normal activities right after the procedure

One should not rub the areas where the injections have been made. This can push the toxin to migrate into different parts of the face

The effects of Botox are not immediate and the full cosmetic benefit is seen after 7-10 days. The results of Botox are not permanent and may last anywhere from 2-3 months.

Regular injections are required to maintain the cosmetic benefit

Botox injections are generally safe when performed by a trained health care professional. However, there are way too many non health care professionals who inject Botox and side effects do occur.

The most common side effects and complications after Botox injections include:

- Pain at the injection site

- Bruising at the injection site

- Redness

- Headache

- Flu like symptoms

- Drooping of eye lid

The majority of these side effects are transient and disappear within a few days to few weeks.

Going to a spa or a salon for your Botox injections may be cheap but you can never know when a complication will occur. Physicians may be more expensive but in the long run the results are safer.

Final Advice: Many unscrupulous health care workers even use fake or dilute Botox solutions. SO get your injections from a reputable health care professional.
